Pg. 6 Use It! – use your vocabulary words in a paragraph or short story
Pg. 7-8 Roll and Spell – roll the dice to see what you will use to write your spelling words, marker, crayon, colored pencil, pen, pencil, or your choice – write each spelling word three times
Pg. 9-1i My Comprehension Flip It! – copy pages A and B back to back, fold on the solid line, cut on the dotted lines and fill out
Pg. 12-14 Regular Verbs! – copy pages A and B back to back -fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines – flip up each flap and write two sentences using that helping verb – use one of your spelling words that ends in –ed in each sentence
Pg. 15-17 Write to Respond – 3 chances to respond in writing -What vision do you have of yourself traveling?, Antarctica verses the desert, Me and the weather
Pg. 18 Krill Surprise! - fill out your recipe card with a fun recipe you created – enough for two students
Pg. 19-20 Food Chain - create a chain for your food chain – choose some of the animals on the paper strips or add some animals of your own onto the blank paper strips – glue strips together
Pg. 21-22 Word Parts! – a foldable book – write the origin of the word part, the meaning, two examples of words with that word part, and then use one of the words in a sentence
Pg. 23- 30 Cause and Effect Penguins! – copy the patterns onto the appropriate colored paper, fill out the cause and effect paper- use cause and effects from your reading selection or come up with some of your own – see example on how to put together
Pg. 31-38 My Antarctic Journal! – a journal you make out of paper lunch bags and cardstock – a good way for students to summarize the story as well as do a little extra research
See example on how to put together – use 3 lunch bags, placing the middle lunch bag going the opposite direction, fold and staple in the middle with a long stapler, punch two holes for the yarn and tie, copy off the writing paper and picture paper, cut out and fill out, glue inside the book with a glue stick, each page has a title page and a second page that goes with it on an opposite, facing page – cut cardstock and add picture paper, add duck tape tabs, add pictures from the internet or draw your own picture – put the cardstock into the bag pockets
