This is a great mini-project for the Second Great Awakening! Students research a specific reformer from the 2nd Great Awakening, and they will have to be able to speak on what their person did and what accomplishments they had!
Students will "Speed Date" other reformers and get 2 minutes to know each other, so they will have to be concise and factual. I will set up a line of desks facing each other, and each pair will have 2 minutes to get to know each other before they have to move on! I encourage my students to bring in props and even dress-up. To make it more fun/ awkward for them, I will put on some music and mood lighting for them!
At the end, they'll see "who's a match" and to whom they might say "It's not me, It's you!". It is a great way to mix-up class, and students never forget it!!!
