This anticipation guide can be used to prime the pump before a reading assignment, class discussion/debate, experience, guest speaker, field trip or video. The power in an anticipation guide is that is opens and closes a learning experience centered around key ideas.
Choose 5 statements that will get students thinking and will assess students feelings and beliefs about they key topics they will be learning. Before learning, students will decide if they agree or disagree. After the learning, students will respond to the same topic assessing if their beliefs or understandings have changed.
The most important part of this organizer is where students get to the "so what" and record their big learning in the box at the bottom.
This organizer can be used individually or with groups (use a poster maker to enlarger).
