Product Description
After reading and studing Sophocles's third play in the Theban triology, use this post-reading reflection to have students evaluate their opinions in response to themes and characters in the drama.

The two-page handout includes two tasks, both that address elements of reflection and rhetorical argument. The first page poses a series of arguable statements. Students should place a checkmark ✔ in the column labelled Support (if they agree completely, and will explain why), Refute (they disagree, and will offer reasons why), or Qualify (they agree to a certain extent, but not fully and will explain why). Students will then use logos (logic) to explain their position in response to the statement. The second page presents a creative writing prompt, in which students compose a persuasive letter to the next King of Thebes.
