Antonym Ice Cream Match is a game that can be played individually or in a small group. It's also a great center activity. The game includes a cover sheet, ice cream cones, extra cones, and a record sheet. The cover sheet, which includes directions, can be attached to the front of a file folder or a manila envelope for storage. Cut the ice cream cones out. Then cut the scoops from each cone. Now you're ready to introduce antonyms or practice/review antonyms. The students can play this game over and over which will also help them learn new vocabulary. Depending on the levels of your students you may want to pick and choose the antonym ice cream cones. For example, you may want to choose the ones that have words your students can read or you may want to have them use fewer cones at the beginning.
