Army of Antonyms
Sea of Synonyms
Multiple Meaning Monsters

DIRECTIONS FOR Army of ANT-onyms GAME:
Place the stack of antonym cards in the center of the table on top of the “picnic themed page”, face down. Mix the food/picnic cards in the antonym pile. Give each child a copy of an ant hill page. Children take turns drawing an antonym card from the pile. After they name any matching antonym they place the antonym card on their ant hill. Watch out! The ants may escape from the ant hill, and go back to the picnic area. If you get a “food/picnic” card, you must put some of your ants back on the picnic themed page. Whoever has the most ants in their ant hill at the end of the game wins.

DIRECTIONS FOR SEA OF SYNONYMS GAME:
Place the stack of synonym cards in the center of the table on top of the “sea page”, face down. Mix the ocean wave cards in the synonym pile. Give each child a copy of a large fish bowl page. Children take turns drawing a synonym card from the pile. After they name any matching synonym they place the sea creature/card on their fish bowl. Watch out! If you get an “ocean wave” card, you must put some of your sea creatures back in the sea. Whoever has the most sea creatures in their fish bowl at the end of the game wins.

DIRECTIONS FOR MULTIPLE MEANING MONSTERS GAME:
Place the stack of homophone cards in the center of the table on top of the “monster themed page”, face down. Mix the candy cards (pages 16-18) in the homophone pile. Give each child a copy of one candy page (pages 19-22). Children take turns drawing a homophone card from the pile. After they define the homophone listed and state a matching homophone pair, they place the homophone card on their candy page. Watch out! The monsters may eat all the candy, and go back to the monster page. If you get a special “candy card”, you must put some of your monsters back on the monster themed page. Whoever has the most monsters and candy on their candy page at the end of the game wins.
