Help the ant find where the number goes on the number line. Tape a piece of string to an ant pointer and to the number line. When your teacher says a number, use your pointer to point to where the number goes!
For a fun twist, play as a class. Divide your class into two teams, but keep students sitting at their desks. Place a stack of number line strips on the back table. Each student gets a number sentence strip and then writes the answers on the laminated card. Quickly check for understanding. Students erase the strip and exchange it for a new one. Give students a set time limit, such as 5-10 min. Each time a student gets a new strip they give themselves a tally mark on the board for their team. The team with the most tally marks wins.
*** You can also laminated the number lines and have students write on them and then check for understanding***
