What a fun "simulation" activity!!! We had students use this template to create their own passbook. Then for an entire week, they had to carry it with them everywhere-simulating one aspect of apartheid. Teachers pretended to be police officers, and would often "raid" classes by blowing whistles and asking students to get up against the wall and show them their passbook. If students didn't have their book, or couldn't tell the information within... they were sent to "jail" (which in our case was a spare classroom during lunch). The kids and parents RAVED about this lesson.
I hope you find this template helpful in creating a passbook for your students! What you are downloading is simply the template, and not a detailed explanation of the simulation activity. ENJOY!
And please consider my other lessons for sale, including a power point on Nelson Mandela & South Africa, a wonderful lesson using music and Steve Biko, and a great assessment for the end of the unit!!!
THANKS & GOD BLESS!!!
