How do you respond when a student asks, "Why do we need to know grammar?" This lesson uses humor and sarcasm to show students why grammar skills are essential tools in our everyday lives.
This is also a perfect introductory or concluding activity for any grammar unit. I use it every year before teaching the use of apostrophes. The students remember these examples and bring them up again when we discuss the rules for using apostrophes.
The use of sarcasm in this lesson will probably go over the heads of many elementary students. This lesson is great, though, for middle and high school levels.
