This activity is for students just beginning to learn about coordinate grids and map skills. The x-axis of the grid is letters and the y-axis of the grid is numbers. This project can be used for a class for the beginning of the school year or the 100th day of school. Students will create a drawing of an Apple with the letters A, B and C in the apple. We have included a grid with a few of the outlines drawn to help the students with challenging areas.
This activity can be a class project or something to be worked on independently when time allows. It also works as an extra credit assignment or when there is a substitute teacher. Looks great on a bulletin board, too.
This lesson includes graph paper for coloring (both with a light grid and a dark grid), a list to fill in the colors and a full sized answer key.
If you like this project please let us know. We are working on creating more color grid projects.
