Integrate STEM in your classroom this fall!
In this Autumn STEM challenge, students design a boat out of apples! Students learn about buoyancy and density! Perfect for Johnny Appleseed Day!
Learn about Buoyancy and Density:
Before designing their boat students explore a variety of objects that sink or float. Students learn about why some objects sink and others float through reading, discussion, and answering comprehension questions. Students apply what they learn as they create their boats.
The STEM Process:
Students plan, design, and execute their own ideas. After they have completed their activity, there is time for reflection on what worked and what didn't.
Aligns with the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards).
What Teachers are saying about this resource!
"Wonderful resource!! My kiddos love all of your resources...so much fun!!!"
"Thanks for this resource! It was a lot of writing for my grades twos so we had an open conversation about some of it but it was a great resource to walk us through the STEM process."
