This is a fun lesson to do during the fall. We use apples instead of potatoes for our GERMY APPLE experiment. Students use the book to chart the changes that the apple goes through after rubbing the apple slice on two different places in the classroom. Each student will need two zip lock bags with his/her name on the bag and one bag should be marked as the Control Apple and the other as the Germy Apple. I use one bulletin board and staple each experiment to the bulletin board for observation. It is a fun experiment to have up during parent teacher conferences. Once you print the pages out you will need to stack them the opposite way to run through the copier. You will need to print them one to two sided and it will come out as a book. If you ever copied the Reading A-Z books it would be the same directions as that. I hope your students enjoy this lesson as much as mine do every year. I also incorporate apple tasting and graphing during this week.
