Ways to use this activity…
Ink Saving Option: Print pages 4-6 on red construction paper, cut out, laminate.
Or…print pages 7-9 as is. Cut out, laminate.
Post either set as a “Write the Room”. Post these are eye level around the room. Students take clip boards and response sheet, look for the corresponding letter, write the fact family within the box.
Or…lay the cards around the room, on desks. Set up students to rotate, sequentially, as you call out “Ready, Set, Scoot”. Students take their response sheet from desk to desk, recording the fact family. This could be done in pairs also.
Or place cards in a math center. Consider putting the cards in a cute apple basket.
Cards 12-15 could be used as a whole group activity to reinforce fact families prior to the ‘Scoot” game (or other activity).
Or…pass out the smaller cards with the two numbers. Place the “label” cards (Addends for 10, Addends for 9, etc.) around the room. Students review their card and when you give the directive, they move to their appropriate spot. This makes for a quick assessment.
