Apple Happy is an innovation of the popular Jack-O Happy poem that has been in classrooms for decades. Each month I introduce a new character using the pocket chart pictures. The last line of the poem changes to "fit" the character. We read the poem and try to predict what the surprise ending will be! Pumpkin and Apple are best in a pie, but Valentine is best on a card!
By the end of the year, the kids are creating their own innovations and writing books during their choice time.
I've included 6 pocket chart pictures and an illustrated student book to color during work time. The text is printed in correct order and also "all mixed up." The students cut the words apart and glue them in the correct order.
Look for Snowball Happy, Valentine Happy, Shamrock Happy, Evergreen Happy, and Egg Happy, to share with your kids.
