Print, laminate and cut all cards and pieces to the activity. Worksheets associated with center game can be copied on regular copy paper. Directions to games are also located on each game card set. Apples Beginning Sound Capital & Lowercase Letter Match: Matching Game:
Children match the pictures with the beginning sound capital & lowercase letter. Memory Game:
Either use both letter cards or one letter card and the sound cards. Children can play this by placing the cards face down in rows. They take turns turning two cards over to see if the letter and sound match. If it does they keep both cards, if not they turn the cards back over and the next child has a turn. The person who has the most matches wins the game. Challenge: Memory game using all three cards in set to find and match. Apples Letter & Sound Mat: Children can use these mats to help organize there letters and sound cards. Good resource for students who are just learning the letters and sounds or for those students who need visual aids.
Apple Make a Word Game:
Children take an apple (consonant, digraphs & consonant blends are provided) and put it in front of a apple basket word chunk to make a word. Children can write word on paper or white board or use one of the 8 worksheets to go with this activity.
Apple Sight Word Game(s): Word Game:
Children place cards face down and take turns drawing a card. If student can read the word, they keep it, if they cannot they must put it back. If they draw a Smiley or Wormy Apple Card follow its directions They must read all their cards, the person who has the most cards wins. Memory Game:
Make two sets of the word cards and children place the cards face down in rows. They take turns turning two cards over to see if they have matched the same words. If it does they keep both cards, if not they turn the cards back over and the next child has a turn. The person who has the most matches wins the game.
Apple Short Vowel Sounds Roll It! Read It! Words & Sentences:
Two types of game cards with short vowel sounds words and sentences. Each game card has all the vowel sound words and sentences on the game card. There are10 game cards in total. Students roll one dice and read the words or sentences in the row they have rolled.
Kids have some apple fun while learning their literacy skills!
