Description

This versatile number sense resource offers your little learners a variety of fun and engaging ways to practice numerals to 20. The apple themed cards can be used as matching tasks or as ordering tasks. These mental math activities may be used at any time during the year, but also complement autumn/fall, school, farm, harvest, Back to School, or Johnny Appleseed themes. They are a great follow up activity for a farm, cider mill, or apple orchard field trip.

There is an apple numeral card and an apple dice card for each numeral from 1-20. There are 8 cards to a page. The apple dice format offers opportunities for subitizing practice. The numeral cards may also be used to practice numeral recognition.

This versatile resource can be used in a variety of ways to address numerals to 20. The cards may be used for matching or ordering tasks. Learners can put the cards in numerical order from 1 to 20 or skip count to 20 by 2s. They are great for math centers, fast finisher activities, morning tubs, sensory bins, pocket chart tasks, partner games, Spot and Swat practice, magnetic cookie sheet games, and take home packets. They can be used as individual, group, or partner activities.

Print, laminate, and cut apart the cards. You may choose to cut out the apples and use them as apple shapes instead of cards. Printing the pieces on cardstock will offer durability. Store the pieces in your choice of seasonal plastic containers, zip top storage bags, envelopes, or zippered supply pouches. You can put adhesive magnetic circles on the back of the pieces and use a dollar store cookie sheet to make a magnetic learning activity. The cards may also be used in a sensory bin.

This resource helps learners develop numeracy and support the Math Common Core Standards for Counting and Cardinality.

Thank you for looking at this resource. I hope you and your learners enjoy these activities.

Have a fun fall day counting at the apple orchard!
