This is great for K, 1st, or even 2nd. This is a great activities to complete in centers. Give each student an apple (red, yellow or green) and have them describe their apple in one word on the first page and include a drawing of their apple. On the second page - weigh each child's apple vs. counting bears using a balance scale. Have them predict how many counting bears it will take to be even. I used the idea of them riding a sea-saw with their dad. Dad is heavier so he goes to the bottom. The next page they will measure their apple with a piece of yard. Have them draw a line of their prediction first. Then once it is measured, tape down the yarn. Next, have them line up the number of counting bears equal to the amount of yarn. On the final page, have the students write sentences about their apple math, apple, etc.
