Have fun with apple rhymes while beginning readers learn basic skills! This pack of fifteen traditional rhymes can be used for whole group mini-lessons, small group practice, partner reading, and individual practice. The rhymes included range from simple four-line verses to some with ten to twelve lines. This variety enables you to accommodate a variety of beginning readers. All of the rhymes can be read aloud to students and used for instruction of pre-reading skills with teacher-support. They are perfect to incorporate into poetry folders/notebooks, as a supplement to an apple-themed unit, or use as a stand-alone poetry unit. Choose just a few, several, or all of the rhymes to meet your instructional goals.
Suggested instructional activities are included for each rhyme. Six bonus worksheets can be used for centers, seat work, homework, or assessment. Full-color printable "posters" (8.5 x 11") may be used for a bulletin board display, in centers, or put together as a book. English Language Arts Common Core State Standards in the area of reading for kindergarten, first, and second grades are also identified so that it will fit into your lesson plans.
