This product gives directions on how to create "apple lima bean" counters. It also includes 3 recording sheets - the first for counting, the second for addition and the last for subtraction. Also included is a title card that can be used to label your center. I like to put my Math Centers in "sandwich sized" plastic containers. They stack very nicely on my bookshelves and the smaller title label can be taped to the side so I can easily find the center I am looking for.
Apple Spill the Beans Counting activity - Child "spills the beans"( I keep the beans in a pharmacy pill bottle), sorts the apples by color(red, yellow), counts and records their answer on the recording sheet. The child continues to "spill the beans" until the sheet is full.
Apple Spill the Beans Addition activity - Child "spills the beans", sorts the beans by color, writes an addition sentence, and finds the sum. The child continues to "spill the beans" until the sheet is full.
Apple Spill the Beans Subtraction activity - Child "spills the beans", counts ALL the beans, then sorts the beans by color, writes a subtraction sentence subtracting the red apples from the total of beans, and counts the yellow beans to find the difference. The child continues to "spill the beans" until the sheet is full.
NOTE: The total number of beans in the bottle DOES NOT change. It is up to you as to how many beans are in the bottle. I sometimes put several pill bottles out - each with a different number of beans. The child should only choose 1 bottle to complete the recording sheet.
