Apples and Baskets More or Less Game
My students loved my Apples and Baskets More or Less Game, so I hope your students like it as much as mine did! This game is played just like the card game “War”, so you will need to print several sets of cards. This is a great math center activity for a fall unit, nutrition unit or Letter A week! Younger students can play just against their teacher, but older students can play each other in pairs. The teacher shuffles the cards and deals them facedown until all the cards are dealt, and students must keep their cards facedown and only flip the top card in their pile as the game progresses. Students and teachers must play the game in pairs: whoever has the larger amount wins that round, but only the students should identify who has the larger amount. If a teacher is playing, she then plays against the next student. If both players have the same amount of apples on their cards, each player slides one card over (keeping it facedown), and then flips over the next card. The player with the larger amount on those cards wins that round. Whoever ends up with all the cards is the winner of the game. This game comes in a full color version and a black and white line version.
