Application or Dictation Sentences
Application/direction sentences can be used for many learning activities. My students usually work with these sentences all week. Some of the ways I have used these sentences over the years include:
As a class opener. Students volunteer to go to the board to write the sentence as they are dictated by the teacher. If they get the sentence correct on the first try, they get some sort of reward (extra credit, no homework, raising one of their existing test grade, etc.). At the end of the week they are tested using the LMS, actually dictation them as the students write them, use multiple choice, etc. These sentences can also be used at the end of the class if your lesson teaching has not lasted as long as you thought it would.
Obtain vocabulary words. One way of having their students define certain words-in-context. Testing could be typing the sentences with the vocabulary words eft out.
Using computer programs to create crossword puzzles.
