This worksheet is great for applying what students have learned about geometric and arithmetic sequences and series to money and finances. Students will have compare different types of salary raises as well as different ways of investing money to see which offers the biggest payout. These are IB style questions designed for IB Math 1, Algebra 2, or Pre-Calculus. Full answer key included.
Example Question: Ashley is going to work as a reporter at Fox 8. The company offers its employees a choice of two salary schemes A and B over a period of 10 years. Scheme A offers a starting salary of $19,000 in the first year and then an annual increase of $700 per year. Scheme B offers a starting salary of $17,000 dollars in the first year and then an annual increase of 7% of the previous year’s salary. Students must find Ashley's salary in particular years as well as over a number of years.
