This document includes a detailed teacher-led lesson that your students will love: they will essentially teach YOU about pop culture - their favorite TV shows or musicians, etc. As we all know, students don't relate to grammar so easily, so we have to "trick" them into learning it by introducing something they can relate to! With the student examples, you will construct, as a class, various appositive phrases. So, they are writing more sophisticated sentences without even knowing it! And, of course, they got a kick out of teaching me about their interests and pop culture!
There are also three reproducible worksheets: 1) one for in-class to fill out as you teach, 2) one for in-class to practice and review together, and 3) a practice writing assignment for homework.
This document is in pdf format, but if you email me, I will send you the Word document, so that you can edit it.
A great follow-up lesson would be my "Appositive Phrases + Shrek" lesson.
