Students get involved by collecting data on chance events. They will observe and record relative frequencies and combine their results to form long run relative frequencies. Students will recognize that as the number of trials increases their recorded outcomes are more likely to approximate the theoretical probability of the chance event. Help your students gain understanding of the relationship between the theoretical and experimental probabilities of chance events through engaging chance process activities. Proportional reasoning is also utilized in this standard, CCSS 7.SP.6, as students will set up proportions to help formulate their predictions.
