This packet contains a word work literacy menu with 9 activities for the month of April. Many centers have more than one option for differentiating instruction. These centers are common core aligned specifically for Kindergarten, but may be used for Prekindergarten and/or struggling First Graders. The activities on the menu can be used as literacy centers, early finisher activities, or in small groups.
Magnetic Letters: Practice sight words, spelling words, etc. using magnetic letters.
Ice Cream Sound Match.: This activity has two options.
Option 1: Match the uppercase and lowercase letters to its correct beginning sound picture on the cone.
Option 2: Stretch the sounds to create the word that matches the picture on the cone.
Whisper Words: Practice your words with a whisper phone.
Earth Day Syllables: Clap the words and sort the pictures according to the number of syllables in the word.
Other Handed: If you are right handed write your words with your left hand. If you are left handed write with your right hand.
QR Code Word Match: You will need a QR code app in order to use this activity. Student will hold iPod/iPad over the QR code and listen for the word they need to find. When they have found the word they will hold iPod/iPad over the QR code and listen to find out whether they found the correct word.
Read It, Make It, Write It: Students will practice reading and writing long o word family words—one, ose, ore, and ole. Depending upon the readiness of your students CVCC words are included.
Egg Rhymes: Find the matching rhyming picture pairs. The eggs can be used in a sensory table filled with Easter grass to make it more interesting.
Chalkboard: Practice writing spelling words, sight words, etc. on a chalkboard.
