April Fools Day DIFFERENTIATED close reading PRANK for 3rd-5th graders!
Trick your students with a close reading passage that says there is a new discovery that Earth is flat, not round.
This freebie includes one article. It is written at two levels for easy differentiation. One is written at a Lexile level of 720L. The other is written at a Lexile level of 940L. You can choose the level you feel is most appropriate for your students.
Both levels seamlessly use the same close reading and text dependent response pages (two pages of questions). The questions included are perfectly aligned to the reading standards. While being pranked, the students will still be learning!

"The researchers who are currently in Antarctica are very excited about the chance to study the new edge of the planet discovery. One researcher in Antarctica, named Albert Curie, told Planet News, 'I’ve been studying penguins for the last 35 years, so the chance to study something so new and exciting is a real treat!' "
