The History of April Fools’ Day Slideshow:
This slideshow contains 18 slides and is saved in PDF. A handout on how to use this type of slideshow is included in this bundle. The slideshow provides some general information in regards to the history of April Fools’ Day. It also includes a few pranks for your students, along with a link to a 4-minute YouTube video about some top pranks. If your school blocks YouTube, then this link will obviously not work. In addition, sometimes links get broken. If this happens, we apologize for this. This slideshow is meant to be fun and engaging for your students. The last slide is about an optional writing activity that your students may have some fun with.
Prank Writing Activity:
This activity will have your students writing their own prank for April Fools’ Day. The handout provided gives specific details on what your students are asked to do. Also included is an example that you can show your students. It is up to you how you want your students to share their writing. You can have them read them to the class or you can have them read them in smaller groups.
April Fools’ Word Find Puzzle Prank:
For a good prank on your students, have them try to find the eight words in the word find puzzle. The eight words are found on the puzzle itself. The prank here is the fact that the only word found in the puzzle is “April Fools”. Give some time for students to work on the puzzle. Some may become frustrated. Encourage them to continue until you feel it necessary to provide them with the actual words (see “Word Find Puzzle Real List” handout). But before you hand out the real list of words, be sure to say “April Fools!”
