As you lead your morning calendar routine, have your students follow along answering all of the questions you pose in their workbooks. What a great way to have every student involved and making connections throughout the calendar, weather charts, number graphing and so much more. This 12 page book contains the following;
a.) a counting by 5's number chart for the students to follow along as they say the numbers.
b.) a blank calendar for students to add the new day's date alongside the teacher lead lesson
c.) Today's Date in Numbers - here the students write the date using numbers as representation - 00-00-00
d.) Number of Days in School: Have your students represent each day of school with a dot in a tens frame. Now use this page to count by 10's, figure out how many more days are needed to get a full tens frame and how many more days of school.
e.) Place Value: On this page have your students write the number that represents how many days of school they've had. Then have them circle the number that is in the ones, tens or hundreds place value column.
f.) 100 Chart: additional counting practice, finding the number that is one more, one less, ten more or ten less.

h.) Sight Word Practice: Each day have your student practice printing one of the sight words on this page.
i.) April Birthdays: keep track of who is having a birthday and when.
j.) Spring Is Here poem: Have your students track the words as you read this short poem in class. This poem uses the same practice printing sight words for additional reinforcement. Have students find and point to the end punctuation, specific letters or words or brainstorm words that rhyme with words from the poem.
