These six literacy centers will be a great addition to any center rotation! All activities deal with the month of April. Topics include spring/springtime, Earth Day, April Fool's Day, weather, etc. Centers are aligned to 2nd and 3rd grade Common Core State Standards. These are great for 3rd graders to review previous year's skills! All six centers also include recording sheets. These are very easy to use and provides great engagement for students!
*Springtime ABC Order: Put the words into alphabetical order.
*Spring Into Syllables: Sort words into piles corresponding to 1, 2, or 3 syllables.
*Springtime Acrostic Poems: Choose a topic and use a dictionary, thesaurus or non-fiction texts to create acrostic poems.
*Earth Day Fact and Opinion: Sort the statement cards into piles of either facts or opinions. I would recommend printing the recording sheet on both the front and back of the paper to give students ample writing space.
*Springtime Writing Prompts: Included are 10 writing prompts that have the kids writing opinion, narrative, and informative pieces.
*Making Words: Students create as many words as they can, using the word SPRINGTIME.
My students love using our literacy centers during our Daily 5 time. It provides engagement and interest for them!!
