It's SPRING! Do you need some spring-themed, Common-Core aligned math centers for April? These are the centers that I made for my own first grade classroom! We have covered almost all of our math standards for the year, so now it is time to do some review of the standards we need to work on just a little bit more to be fresh for second grade! In this center you will find EIGHT math centers to keep your students engaged and learning during math workshop all month long.
The centers included are:
1.) Flowery Fractions: Students will sort picture cards as to whether they represent a whole, halves, or fourths. An alternate version for sorting equal/not equal parts is also included. Two cut and paste recording sheets are provided! This center addresses 1.G.A.3.
2.) Springtime in the Pond: In this "Go Fish!" style game, students will review defining attributes of shapes (both 2D and 3D). Two recording sheets for accountability are also included. This center addresses 1.G.A.1.
3.) Adding Up April Showers: Students will practice adding 3 numbers together in this station. Three sets of cards are included along with a recording sheet. This center addresses 1.OA.A.2.
4.) Earth Day Equations: In this station, students will sort equations into the categories "True" or "False." There are three sets of cards with corresponding cut and paste worksheets for each version. This center addresses 1.OA.D.7.
5.) Fact Family Flower Power: Students will assemble fact family flowers in this center before filling out the recording sheet. This relates to 1.OA.C.6.
6.) Buggy BUMP!: Students will review various addition and subtraction strategies with these bug-themed BUMP! gameboards. My first graders love this game! There are boards for addition to 10, adding +1 to a number, adding +10 to a number, adding 3 dice together, and subtraction. Various recording sheets are provided to assess each of these skills. This center addresses 1.OA.C.5 as well as 1.OA.C.6.
7.) Number Bond Blooms: In this center, students will find the missing partner in a set of number bonds. Three sets of cards are provided as well as worksheets that correspond with each set. This center addresses 1.OA.D.8.
8.) Happy Spring "Time!": Students will read and record the times provided on analog clocks. Three versions are provided: time to the hour, time to the half hour, and time to the quarter hour (for a challenge). The cards can be mixed up for variety. A recording sheet is also provided. This station addresses 1.MD.B.3.
All centers are provided in BOTH color and black and white. I understand that ink is precious, especially at this point of the school year! For each center there is also a directions page with an "I can" statement (in color) along with a 'teacher tips' page. Check out the preview file to see pictures of what is included with each station. Thank you for visiting my store!
