### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This pack includes 8 math tubs for the month of April.

Each center includes a recording sheet and/ or an option to differentiate. Some centers include multiple recording sheets which serve as the differentiation (asking students to explain or use higher order thinking) and some centers come with two sets of cards to differentiate. Some stations can be differentiated by having students use the provided tools (120 chart, tens/ones mat, etc.) and students who need a challenge can solve mentally and orally explain their thinking.

Centers included:

*Pond Time: Students will each take a game board. They will take turns choosing a digital clock card from the deck and finding the matching analog clock on their game board. They will cover it with a counter or any manipulative you choose. The first person to cover 5 on their board wins! However, there are ‘lose a turn’ cards and ‘go again’ cards to give the game a twist! (1.MD.3)

*Garden Addition: Students will take a flower card and solve
using base ten blocks and the provided tens/ones mat. You can also have students use a 120 chart or solve mentally to differentiate. Students will then match the flower card to the water can sum. (1.NBT.4)

*Number Bubbles: Students will begin with one of the kid cards. They will then find the 4 numbers that follow the number on the kid card. They will count, starting with the number on the kid card, and then record the sequence of numbers on their recording sheet. Fast finishers can create a +10 & -10 number sentence. (1.NBT.1)

*Catch and Compare: Each student will choose a card from the deck. They will discuss whose number is larger and how they know. They will then use the >, <, or = card to create a sentence to record. The player with the largest number keeps the pair. When all cards are taken from the deck, they declare the winner: the person with the most cards. Students can use place value blocks, if needed, to help them discuss. (1.NBT.3)

*Sunny Day Sorting: Students will look at each picture and decide if the number of cubes stated is the correct measurement. They will sort the picture as true or false and explain why they decided on that. (1.MD.2)

*Planting Ten: Students will choose a flower equation card and represent the equation using (sunflower) seeds on their ten frames. They will discuss with their partner how they can make a ten and a new equation. {For instance 9+3=10+2} They will then find the matching flower equation card and lay them together. (1.OA.6)

*Busy Bee Match Up: Students will match the hive to the bee that shows ten less and ten more. Students should place the matching bee hive underneath the bee card. When students finish, they can use a dice to add a single digit number to one of the wing numbers. A set of cards are included to differentiate for higher students. When they finish, they can choose two wing numbers to add together. (1.NBT.4 & 5)

*Spring Sums: Each student will take a game board. One player will choose a card and the entire group will solve, deciding on the correct sum. Each person will cover it on their game board. The first person to get 3 in a row is the winner! Students can use the tens/ones mat to help them solve using place value blocks. (1.NBT.4)
