Use this activity to anchor students to characters within novels and plays. The activity is versatile and allows you to adapt to many pieces of literature. Inspired students will want to discuss and study multiple characters and the characters’ motivations, needs and desires. This lesson works particularly well with novels and plays that have many dynamic characters: The Crucible, The Great Gatsby, Raisin in the Sun, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Death of a Salesman, ALL PLAYS SHAKESPEARE and many more!
This method’s success lies in its ability to make the students feel connected to characters and shows how to relate or find objection with a character’s behavior, motivations and actions.
