Description

Introduce archetypes with this slideshow. First, students explore common characters, settings, plots, and themes. Then they watch two cartoon videos: "The Ants and the Grasshopper" and "The Three Little Pigs." After story elements are organized in a table, each category is simplified. Finally, a paragraph summarizes the similarities and differences of the fables.

The slideshow comes in two versions: PowerPoint and Google Slides (which is linked). It was originally designed to challenge advanced fourth and fifth grade students as they compared and contrasted folktales. However, it can be used by anyone who's learning about archetypes.
