LET'S STUDY CHARACTERS!!
This lesson contains information on 13 popular archetypes, along with their motivations, behaviors, and additional stock character names (stereotypes).
There is a page of common movie/t.v. characters, for shared practice in identifying the archetype.
In addition, there is a page for students to analyze their own character, including behaviors/traits. There is an area to draw theirself being that archetype.
Students need to know that there are certain “types” of characters in books and movies. Knowing the patterns of traits can help predict, infer, and confirm ideas about the story.
One Common Core Standard states to describe a character in depth, in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text. This is important in 3rd-5th grades, when students begin to analyze characters.
I print one packet per two students to share during character discussions.
