Reinforce sight words, practice identifying main idea and details, and writing facts with two fun and engaging emergent readers and corresponding activities! My "Arctic Animals: Part 1" mini book practices the sight words a, lives, in, the, here, it, has, is, can. It focuses on one animal per page, features simple text, and states 1-2 facts per animal. Animals in this book include a walrus, Arctic hare, polar bear, Arctic fox, narwhal, harp seal, husky, and puffin. "Arctic Animals: Part 2" practices the sight words a, lives, in, the, it, can, likes, to, eat, has, here, under, will, with, have. It focuses on one animal per page, features simple text, and states 1-2 facts per animal. Animals in this book include a moose, fur seal, Arctic wolf, Beluga whale, lemming, snow goose, snowy owl, and reindeer. I have included two levels of writing practice. Five response activities have also been included. Students will recall animals that live in the Arctic and cut and paste them into an Arctic scene. Students will read a series of fluency sentences and cut and paste the animal that matches the sentence into the box at the end. Given the main idea, students will draw and label four details from the text. Students will draw an animal from the text and write a sentence telling a fact about it. Students will draw and write to complete a flip book, with three Arctic animal facts.
