Product Description
As I was on the hunt for resources to teach my students about habitats, I realized that there aren't very many out there that include REAL pictures of animals and their environments. To help my students reach the rigorous Common Core State Standards, I want to provide them with non-fiction resources that will connect them to the world around them. This is why I created this Arctic Habitat Non-Fiction pack loaded with REAL pictures of animals that live in the arctic habitat and true information about what it's like in the arctic.

Here's what's included in this arctic habitat pack:

Pg. 2-11: Vocabulary cards (includes a word card, a definition card, and a picture card for 8 arctic words)
Pg. 12-20: Large posters featuring real pictures of the arctic habitat (included are arctic, habitat, glaciers, polar bear, walrus, beluga whale, reindeer, and arctic fox)
Pg. 21-30: Informational texts about the arctic and the animals that live there (these are great to read to your students to kick off your habitats unit, to provide students as an extension, or as non-fiction research pieces when studying the arctic habitat)
Pg. 31-35: Penguin vs. Polar Bear (includes one close read text, vocabulary cards specific to the text, and one close read questioning page)
Pg. 36-41: Polar Bears (includes one close read text, vocabulary cards specific to the text, and two close read questioning pages)
Pg. 42-44: Arctic Habitat Mini-Close Read (includes one mini close read text PERFECT for young readers and ELLs who are just beginning to get the feel for looking closely at a text and one questioning page)
Pg. 45-49: Walruses Mini-Close Read (includes one mini close read text PERFECT for young readers and ELLs who are just beginning to get the feel for looking closely at a text, vocabulary cards specific to the text, and one questioning page)
Pg. 50-53: Photographs (pictures of arctic animals)
Pg. 54-57: Extras (arctic writing page, exit ticket, and habitat Venn Diagram)
