I love teaching about winter animals and the native people of the Arctic! If you do too, then this integrated unit is for you.
I incorporate social studies, math, reading and writing in this unit.
Winter Social Studies Theme:
Students have pocket chart resources to review landforms and map terms.
There are worksheets to work on the concept of North, South, East and West
Students will learn about the Tlingit and the Inuit people.
Winter Science Themes
Students will learn about which animals are from the Arctic and which are not.
Interactive Notebook pages are included to learn about the people of the Arctic, or the plants and animals. Your choice. :) Both color and black and white versions are included.
Students will work on sentence scrambles with key terms.
There are also two games to work on the distinction between long and short vowel words.
Students have a variety of writing pages to choose from. There are pages for opinion, informational and narrative writing. Brainstorm, draft, revision and finished product pages are also included for each topic. A variety of graphic organizers are included to help your students with their thinking.
Students will work on counting on, telling time and data analysis. All with the theme of winter animals or native peoples of the Arctic.
This file is jam packed with lots of fun things to get your Arctic/Winter Unit started off with a bang! :)
