Rigor, critical thinking, and challenge are pre-requisites for soaring achievement in math. The ‘Are You Ready for Algebra?’ activity provides opportunities for students to experience all three.
‘Are You Ready for Algebra?’ is a collection of 50 cards that feature 50 math problems associated with operations, ordering, ratios, proportions, measurement, geometry, simple statistics, patterns, and functions. Simply print, cut, and distribute the cards to students (one card per student). Once a student successfully completes a problem, he or she exchanges the card for a new one. Personal score cards are issued, one per student, and students keep track of their own individual progress. Answer Key cards are provided for the teacher, and students are encouraged to check their own answers.
