This resource includes everything you need to teach the basics of area to your students. This product was designed for third graders, but would work great as a review for fourth graders as well.

This unit introduces how to find the area of rectangles by multiplying length times width, counting unit squares, and by tiling.

There is an interactive mini-lesson included that students can glue into their notebooks to help them have something to reference after learning each of the three ways to find the area. This interactive notebook entry is "no-nonsense" which means that students simply have to cut and glue. There is no folding to make it easier for you to teach the lesson faster and to keep students on track.

In the ten worksheets included, students practice counting the unit squares, multiplying to find area, tiling to find area, a mix of all three, deciding which rectangle has a bigger area, finding the unshaded and shaded area of rectangles, finding area of different rooms in a picture, shade in given areas, draw areas, and match the area to the correct answer.

An area craftivity is included where students get to use their creative side while calculating area at the same time!

There is a hands-on activity where students have to use their knowledge of area using manipulatives to make the correct area. There are 3 versions to allow for easy differentiation!

There are also 20 finding area game cards included. In the game, students have to find the area of each "building block kid creation." Students will love the cute game cards.

In all, there are over 40 pages included in this product!
