Boom Cards provide a fun way to integrate technology into your lesson.
In this unit, you will find:
★ 24 Digital Task Cards providing students with practice with choosing a way to find the area of a tiled rectangle. A tiled rectangle is shown and students must choose the expression that represents a way to find the area (either repeated addition or multiplication).
★ 20 Digital Task Cards providing students with practice with calculating the area (in square units) of a figure. Students must count the square units (on a grid) to determine the total area.
*Figures with half unit squares are included- all answers are whole numbers.
*Figures are both rectangular and non-rectangular shaped.
★ 24 Digital Task Cards providing students with practice with calculating the area of a rectilinear figure. The figure is decomposed into two non-overlapping rectangles. Students must calculate the area of each rectangle, and then add the areas of each part.
★ 20 Digital Task Cards providing students with practice with calculating the area of a rectilinear figure. Students should use a strategy to decompose the figure into 2 parts to find the total area of the figure.
This deck is provided in both AUDIO- all text is read to the student with a click of the audio button and STANDARD Versions.
These task cards will work great for:
► with struggling students
► test prep
► as a center/whole group activity when you introduce the topic
Boom Cards are a great alternative to a worksheet. This set will give your students practice with area in a fun and engaging manner.

⭐ Interactive & Engaging
⭐ Easy to Prep- they require no printing, photocopying, laminating, or cutting
⭐ Self-checking- No grading to be done by you
CCSS 3.MD.C.6- Measure areas by counting unit squares
CCSS 3.MD.C.7a- Relate area to the operations of multiplication and addition. a. Find the area of a rectangle with whole number side lengths by tiling it, and show that the area is the same as would be found by multiplying side lengths.
CCSS 3.MD.C.7d- Recognize area as additive. Find areas of rectilinear figures by decomposing them into non-overlapping rectangles and adding the areas of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real world problems.
Boom Cards have many awesome features built into each deck!
Decks are randomized automatically, and will only show 20 cards at a time This means each time your students play, they will see a different set! When the student picks an answer, they will know if the answer is correct or incorrect, and can not move to the next card until the correct answer is chosen. Set up an account and track your students learning progress.
