It is vital for students to make connections between a variety of representations to develop a conceptual understanding of mathematical procedures. This file contains 10 sets of three representations (30 cards) of multiplication problems where one factor has 2 digits and the other has 1. The representations included are abstract (or numeric), area model split into regions for use with the partial product strategy, and a base 10 array.
The cards can be used for a full group link up game or in small groups, where students can either do an unstructured match up or play a “go fish” game using their math vocabulary to find the card they are looking for. An additional student instruction page for math center time and journal prompt is also provided.
Card pages are preformatted to print directly to index cards (3”x 5”). You may need to check your print settings as the PDF file format may vary from the original Word file. Contact me if you are having issues printing.
