PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This student booklet is perfect for teaching students the steps for area formulas! Students use the detailed example to create three more models and to write the steps of the formula for each model they create. Triangle, rectangle, square, trapezoid, parallelogram, and circle are included!

I found that my students LOVE having their pages stapled down the side like a booklet; they actually felt more ownership over the material, so that's how I intended this booklet to be assembled. However, you could use the pages separately when you cover each figure in your curriculum.

Two versions are included! The first has all of the steps listed with just blanks for students to insert the dimensions of their figures. The second has the three student boxes scaffolded so less support is given for each figure they draw, with the third box blank so the students have to write all of the steps themselves. You can use both versions separately as the students become more competent, or use the first version for students who need modifications. You could also use the first version as guided practice and the second for independent practice.

Lastly, I always use this on a benchmark testing afternoon when the kids have been testing all morning. I want them to still make progress, but I know they are exhausted! I give them this and a ruler and they cheerfully begin working, as it feels to them more like creativity and less like work:)
