PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Given a budget and dimensions of a fictional "back yard", students will create their dream back yard. They must use the dimensions to find the area and perimeter, then they must shop. They have a budget, and must buy items (pool, swingset etc.) to put in their new back yards. Students not only must add the money, but they must calculate tax on purchases. When they plan it all out, they will build a shoe box diorama of their backyard using creativity and any materials they choose. After it is finished, they must write a one page paper explaining how it's done. This is a two to three week project, and my students absolutely loved it! They learned about online shopping, calculating taxes, living within a budget, and how to use area and perimeter to it's maximum potential. A great end of year project. When printed out, it has everything you need, including a parental note informing of the project, and the rubric to grade it.
