This is a series of four worksheets and four answer keys which help create a deeper understanding on area. Types of questions include:
-using area tiles to create a shape with a given area of square units
-using a multiplication sentence to find area for given quadrilaterals (be sure students label the given square unit)
-written explanation of how to find area
-solving word problems involving area in real-life situations
-creating a shape on a grid with a given area of square units
Students may check their own work with the given answer key if desired.
There are two sets of "similar" type worksheets. I created these to be used as a formative and a summative assessment. For example, you can assess what students know using one worksheet, teach your area unit, and then use the other to assess learning at the end of the unit. You could also have one be a guided practice group and the other be an independent work station.
