PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This file contains tasks cards aligned to Common Core Standard 3.MD.C.7a-d: Understanding concepts of area and relating area to multiplication and addition.

Activity 1: Students will be finding the area of a rectangular region by multiplying side lengths. Students will also be looking at area by multiplying side lengths and comparing that area to counting squares inside the figure.

Activity 2: These task cards will ask students to find the area of a figure using an area model to represent the distributive property in mathematical reasoning.

Activity 3: These task cards recognize area as additive. Students will find the area of rectilinear figures by decomposing the shape into non-overlapping rectangles and then adding the areas to find the total area of the figure.
