This product was created to help students learn to find areas of trapezoids using the formula. The area formula for trapezoids is a bit more complex than some area formulas.
The product is a tabular graphic organizer that prompts the students to list the two bases and the height, plug them into the formula, and the rest of the steps which are broken down to one step at a time. This product scaffolds students toward the goal of finding trapezoid areas without the organizer. This product is good for intervention classes.
My students found the method easy to use. The graphic organizer ideally is the first step in learning, and the students should begin to be able to find the areas without the graphic organizer after practice.
This product has 1 completed example problem, 7 problems with an answer key, and a blank template so that you may create more problems for practice.
