I created this so that I could tie factoring to finding missing measurements of rectangles using the area. This has the explicit instructions and an example explaining what the student is expected to do. Students will use a given area and find all possible rectangles that could represent that area. They do this by using the factors of the given area, and then illustrate all possible rectangles that could have that area, while labeling all sides with the appropriate factor. This worked well in my class. It made students think through the process and they had a better understanding about why knowing their facts and understanding factoring can help them to understand area measurements.
