Get ready for your students to explore area and perimeter with these interactive, hands-on, problem solving printables!

With this product you will explore the relationship between area and perimeter to deepen the understanding of measurement concepts. There is printable, interactive and hands-on activities. Students will cut and paste, they will color to visually stimulate the differences between the concept, they will help the farmer create particular areas and perimeters. They will engage in problem solving activities. They will be required to use formulas, as well as arrays to find perimeter and area.
They will complete comparison activities. This helps students distinguish between size (or area) and shape, length, and other dimensions. A long, skinny rectangle may have less area than a short rectangle. There is also a poster for students to see the vocabulary and words associated with each concept. They will also be applying their developing concepts of multiplication and addition.
This no prep resource even comes with several different grid papers for you to choose from.

You can use these activities with the whole class, small groups, during intervention, as a project, for homework, as morning work, as a math station.... and worksheets come with answer key!

CCSS.Math.Content.4.MD.A.3Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
