Product Description
In this activity, students must decide which animals they will have at their zoo and use both perimeter and area to design the layout for the zoo paying close attention to the space needed for each animal. Here is a sample that also includes a fun fact about the animal: Flamingos do fly even though they mostly stand around in the water. They are pink because of the food they eat. Some flamingos are orange or red. The flamingos need some water and land. The enclosure needs to have an area of 25 square feet.

I usually use this with 1cm or smaller graph paper.

It can be a math center, homework or use it as a math project over multiple days.
