In this hands-on activity, students work in groups to analyze 10 cards related to perimeter and/or 10 related to the area to determine if the statement about the figure is true or false. Each card shows a problem with a model related to a figure and a statement is made about the perimeter or area of the figure. Students use what they know about the measurements of figures to determine if the statement is true or not. Have students find common mistakes and correct false cards to extend the activity.
The activity materials include separate cards for perimeter and area so you can do the activity with each unit of study as applies.
